8M ELA- Corrected our lesson on "Survival Shelters".  Read a speech.  HOMEWORK:  SUZUKI ARTICLE.  SPELLING TEST TOMORROW.

Back to Work

8ELA - Handed back Unit 1 Spelling Test.  I lost 10 people from my June Spelling Aces Dinner Party!  Worked on Unit 2 in Spelling and reviewed adj/adv info.  HOMEWORK:  SPELLING UNIT 2 P. 6 AND 8, ADJ/ADV HANDOUTS.  ALL DUE WEDNESDAY.

8SS - 8M corrected Measuring Time and worked on Origin Stories.  NO HOMEWORK.  8B finished working on Origin Stories.  HOMEWORK:  ORIGIN STORIES. 

7SS - Corrected the Geo Challenge.  Practiced co-ordinates.  NO HOMEWORK.

7REL - Read text.  HOMEWORK:  JOURNAL.

Hooray! The Weekend!

8ELA - Spelling Test was today.  8M finished correcting their Skills booklet.
8B SS - Corrected Measuring Time worksheet.  Began our study of Origin Stories.  NO HOMEWORK.
8M SS - Worked on Chronology/Measuring Time.  Began our study of Origin Stories.  HOMEWORK:  MEASURING TIME WORKSHEET.
7HEALTH - Introduced the year plan and handed out permission slips.  NO HOMEWORK.
7SS - Continued our work with Latitude and Longitude.  Worked on Activity Page 4.

**Grade 7 Retreat forms are now due.  The Retreat is September 23rd.
**Grade 7 Health forms are due Monday.
**Grade 8 Skills Test (Adjectives/Adverbs) is September 23rd.

Let's Get Working

8ELA - Did Unit 1 Pre-check and the associated work.  Reviewed synonyms, antonyms, adjectives, and adverbs.  This study will help us be more descriptive in our writing.  HOMEWORK:  SPELLING UNIT 1 AND GRAMMAR BOOKLET DUE WEDNESDAY.
8SS - Learned history vocabulary which will be discussed in every unit.  In groups, students defined the word, came up with associations, and created a sentence which clearly explains the meaning of the word.  NO HOMEWORK.
7SS - Corrected Longitude homework.  Combined our learning on latitude and longitude and began using co-ordinates.  HOMEWORK:  LOCATING PLACES WITH LATITUDE AND LONGITUDE.  DUE NEXT CLASS.

First Full Day!

Welcome Back Everyone!

We have lots happening in our school this year and our classroom will be very busy.  Make sure that you're checking my page regularly so that you know what's going on.  I sent home the newsletter, Freedom of Information Form, and my parent letter so please make sure you get these and sign/return what is necessary.

8ELA-Assigned "My Favourite Summer Experience" paragraph.  HOMEWORK:  REVISED PARA DUE TOMORROW.
8SS-Learned about our text book with special attention on the Glossary and Index.
7SS-Begin our study on Latitude and Longitude which leads into the concept of co-ordinates.
7Health-Used this as a religion class because we missed yesterday's class.  Gave Year Plan and Assessment Methods.  HOMEWORK:  INTRODUCTION LETTER (marked assignment).  DUE TOMORROW.
