I Am David Movie

8B - Watched the movie I am David.  8M watched it yesterday.  Both classes noticed major differences between the novel and movie and will be working on finishing the novel unit in the next few weeks.
8M - Corrected a lesson on Socrates.  Worked on novel worksheets.  HOMEWORK:  I AM DAVID BOOKLET:  MAKING INFERENCES AND MEMORY.  GRAMMAR BOOKLET.  BOTH DUE TOMORROW.
7C SS - Finished reading about the creation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.  HOMEWORK:  QUESTIONS 1 - 5 BACKGROUND:UDHR.
7G SS - Corrected questions 1 - 5 Background:UDHR.

Human Rights and the UN

7SS - Today students were introduced to the United Nations and their development of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.  We also learned about the important work of John Peters Humphrey.  Do you know what he did?  NO HOMEWORK.
8ELA - A grammar class focussing on punctuation and different types of sentences.  HOMEWORK:  BOOKLET WHICH IS DUE FRIDAY.
8SS - Learned about Socrates and figured out why Ms. MacDonald always asks: "Why?"  HOMEWORK:  SOCRATES QUESTIONS 1- 6.

8ELA - Students finished reading the novel I am David.  They enjoyed the book and even applauded at the end!  We'll be watching the movie next week.  HOMEWORK:  7 & 8 SUMMARY QUESTIONS 7 - 10 WHICH INCLUDES A PINK QUESTION.
8SS - Collected Democracy Worksheet and Pink Questions.  Some students didn't hand them due to the anticipated schedule change so all work must be completed and turned in tomorow.  NO HOMEWORK.

"Island" Field Trip Today

7SS - Students began a unit on Human Rights and participated in an activity in which they are stranded on a deserted island (a beautiful beach scene on the Smartboard helped us visual the beach!)  This group activity had students think about what rights and responsibilites are necessary.  NO HOMEWORK.
8ELA - Corrected Q. 1-11 of I am David and collected Pink Questions from 8M.  HOMEWORK:  READ CHAPTER 7.
8B SS - Reviewed the criteria for Canadian citizenship.  NO HOMEWORK.

A big thank you to everyone in 8M for participating in our Read-a-thon!  Thank you also to the parents, family, and friends who sponsored and supported our students.  Our class has had 100% and we were the first one to have all our packages and money in.  Yay 8M!!
