Pushing and Pulling

7SS - Students discussed the reasons why people leave one country (push factors) for a different one (pull factors).  HOMEWORK:  INTERVIEW SOMEONE WHO HAS LEFT A COUNTRY FOR CANADA.  IDENTIFY 2 PUSH AND 2 PULL FACTORS FROM THIS INDIVIDUAL.  BE SURE TO INCLUDE WHEN THEY LEFT AND FROM WHERE.
8B ELA - Unit 14 Spelling.
8B SS - Started a unit on ancient Greece.  Reviewed the objectives, read about the ancient civilization of Mycenae, and constructed a timeline for the unit.

**Please bring in your toonie for our class Christmas present for the church hamper.  Please bring in your box of jello.
**If you have the time to make a list of things you want for Christmas, you have time to go to your wallet or piggy bank and find a toonie for the hamper or to the pantry for the jello.  HELP OUT!

Christmas Breakfast Today

What a great day we had today!  Our school raised $500 for the Winnipeg Boys and Girls Club.  This organization has clubs throughout the city, and children who attend have a safe place to be, a meal to eat, and help with homework.  The Me to We Team, with Princess as the Chairperson, did a great job!  As a WE school of Free the Children, this event was our local action to make the world a better place.  Watch for further events where Holy Cross students make a difference!

8ELA - Spelling Test Unit 13.  Library.

Everyone Loves Monday!

8SS - Reflected on the One Day in the Life chart from the internet activity on Ancient Egypt society.  Two questions were assigned including a pink questions.  HOMEWORK:  ONE DAY IN TEH LIFE Q 1 AND 2.
8ELA - Precheck and unit work for spelling unit 13.  HOMEWORK:  SPELLING UNIT 13.
7SS - Reviewed climate, vegetation, and land use maps in our atlases and made predictions and connections regarding wealth.  HOMEWORK:  CLIMATE AND VEGETATION REVIEW AND EXTENSION Q 3 AND 4.

Christmas Celebration Breakfast Tickets

$3 tickets must be paid tomorrow.  Please do not be late with your orders.  The breakfast is being organized by the Me to We Team and all money raised will be going to the Winnipeg Boys and Girls Clubs.

Busy Day Again

8ELA - Completed our Unit 12 Multi-Unit Spelling Test.  8B corrected "The Sniper".
8B SS - Finished correcting The Pyramids lesson.  Worked on an internet activity on A Day in the Life of ancient Egyptians.  HOMEWORK:  INTERNET ACTIVITY CHART.
7 REL - Read the story of Abraham and Sarah.  HOMEWORK:  3 QUESTIONS ABOUT THE STORY, ITS MESSAGE AND THE ISSUE OF TRUST.
7 SS - Finished our charts on climate and vegetation.  HOMEWORK:  CHARTS.

**Me to We Team is hosting a Christmas Celebration Breakfast this coming Thursday.  All money raised will be given to the Winnipeg Boys and Girls Club as part of our school's local action to make the world a better place.  Tickets are $3 and you get your choice of chocolate milk or juice.  Please bring your orders in on Monday but we will take them on Tuesday.
